2025-26 Winter Series

Classes

  • Rookie
  • SportsTC
  • Frontie
  • 17.5t Blinky Touring Car

Racing Format

  • Practice, with Rookies and SportsTC getting separate sessions.
  • 3 rounds of qualifying (round-by-round, best 2 to count).
  • 2-leg finals, each counting as a separate championship round.

Prizes at the end of the series based on championship results. We aim to give prizes to everyone who does the minimum number of events (5 events).

Rookie Rules

Rules for this class are fairly open, intended to keep speeds sensible and reduce crash damage while learning the hobby.

  • Suitable for all new racers, or those returning after a long break.
  • Any 1/10 on-road electric car, including Ready-To-Run (RTR) and race kits.
  • Allowed motors:
    • Core 27t Brushed (CR712). This is our ‘control’ motor; anyone racing regularly should run one of these to give an even playing field. The other motors are allowed so that anyone turning up for the first time can “run what you’ve brung”.
    • Tamiya silver-can and torque-tuned motors
    • Banzai kit motor
    • 17.5t brushless with minimum FDR of 5.0*
    • 17.5t fixed-timing brushless with minimum FDR of 4.5*
  • 7.2v NiMh or 2S hard-case lipo batteries only. Lipos must be balance-charged in a lipo-safe bag.
  • Any tyres are allowed. We have loads of good used tyres donated to the club that we give out for free, so don’t worry about buying tyres.

*Brushless FDR limits are provisional. We intend to limit brushless speeds for Rookies, to keep speeds sensible and similar to the brushed cars. We will review these over the course of the series.

Sports TC Rules

SportsTC is the ideal progression from Rookie, aimed at the Tamiya TT02 and similar kits.

When starting out in Rookie it’s worth reading these rules, and aim to build a car that’s legal for SportsTC, so you can progress without any additional outlay.

Full SportsTC Rules here.

Frontie Rules

Frontie runs to the BRCA 2025 rules, with control electrics and tyres:

  • Hobbywing fixed timing 17.5t G2.1 motor (30408011)
  • XR10 Justock G3 or G3S ESC (30112003 or 30112005)
  • 15k rev limit
  • Open FDR
  • BRCA legal Frontie bodyshell
  • Ride belted treaded tyres (any wheel/year)
  • XG-RAIN wet tyres
  • Open tyre additive, allowed only when dry

17.5t Touring Car Rules

Allowed tyres

  • Rush 28X (RU0362) – these work well when its very cold or there are damp spots.
  • Rush 32M (RU0569) – great all round tyre
  • Rush 36M (RU1079) – harder compound, work well in October/March.
  • XG-Rain wet tyre
  • Open tyre additive, allowed only when dry

All other rules are as per BRCA including:

  • 17.5t Motor and Blinky ESC from BRCA Electric Board List as of October 2025
  • Lipos and bodyshells from BRCA lists
  • Minimum weight 1320g

Hobbywing 17.5t ‘spec’ electrics (fixed timing) can be run with 1270g minimum weight.
A good cheap option for a wet car. No RPM limit.
